South Korea's wildfires reignite in southeast

South Korea's wildfires reignited in the southeastern part of the country as officials from the Gyeongbuk Fire Service Headquarters reported sighting smoke in the province of Andong, which is 190 km southeast of Seoul in the North Gyeongsang province, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Officials stated that the wildfires restarted in other parts of the province, including Euiseong, which is located south of Andong. Regional officials deployed nine helicopters and 230 firefighters and public servants, along with 50 soldiers, to battle the fires.

The fires have claimed 29 lives and injured 41 others, 6,885 people are yet to return to their homes since evacuating. The fires have claimed an estimated 48,000 hectares of woodland.

Myanmar junta: Death toll after earthquake reaches 2,056
