Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez publicly urged the United States on Friday to reverse its decision to impose new tariffs on European imports.
Speaking in Madrid, Sanchez criticized the move and called for Washington to engage in dialogue with the European Commission to resolve the dispute diplomatically.
"Stop this nonsense," Sanchez said, referring to US President Donald Trump's plan to introduce a 25% tariff on all car imports, announced on Wednesday. The European Union has promised a "robust, calibrated" response if the tariffs are implemented.
