Spotify working on its ad exchange project

EPA-EFE/FILIP SINGER

Spotify Technology SA is testing its own ad exchange, provisionally titled simply Spotify Ad Exchange (SAX), in cooperation with the digital marketing and online advertising company The Trade Desk Inc., the spokesperson for both companies told Axios on Tuesday.

The option, which is in its pilot phase, should allow user access from SAX to demand-side platforms (DSPs) and hence, enable vendors to have a direct path to the products they sell. At the moment, the two companies are working on linking The Trade Desk's advertising clients in North America to Spotify's video ad register.

"We are excited to extend our partnership with Spotify on this pilot to help advertisers have direct access to high-quality inventory with as much signal and transparency as possible," The Trade Desk told Axios.
