Starbucks Corporation and Workers United agreed to resume negotiations, as per statements published by both parties.
Starbucks' Executive Vice President and Chief Partner Sara Kelly highlighted talks resumption as an "important milestone" that will be done to reach "collective bargaining agreements, including a fair process for organizing, and the resolution of some outstanding litigation." As part of the evolution of the discussions, Starbucks will provide employees represented by the union "with credit card tipping and benefits announced by the company in May of 2022," Workers United said. The employees under the union umbrella are close to 10,000.
Although the multinational coffee chain planned to start negotiations in January, this new development is expected to unblock negotiations that have been stalled for more than two years.
