Sunak announces new air defense package for Ukraine

EPA-EFE/UKRAINIAN PRESIDENTIAL PRESS SERVICE HANDOUT

The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with £50 million air defense package to help bolster the country's protection against aerial attacks, Britain's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on Saturday in his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Downing Street said the package comprises 125 anti-aircraft guns and technology aimed at countering "deadly Iranian-supplied drones, including dozens of radars and anti-drone electronic warfare capability." It said the aid will "help protect Ukrainian civilians and critical national infrastructure from an intense barrage of Russian strikes."
