Sunak concedes 'difficult times ahead'

British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak admitted on Sunday that the sanctions the West imposed on Russia "are not cost-free for us." He also conceded he "can't pretend I can completely protect people from the difficult times ahead" in a Sky News interview.

However, he said the citizens of the United Kingdom should "feel confident about the strength of our economy," but he repeated the outlook is uncertain. He also confirmed defense spending in the UK "is increasing in real terms over this parliament."
