British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday defended London's decision to respond to the January 9 attack on the country's warship in the Red Sea, stressing that the strikes which later hit Houthi targets in the group-controlled parts of Yemen were "limited" action.
"They fired on our ships and our sailors, it was the biggest attack on our navy for decades, and so we acted," Sunak told the House of Commons, adding that the Houthi group launched almost 30 "unacceptable" attacks on commercial vessels before London and Washington took action and launched retaliatory strikes.
"We did so in self-defense...and to uphold freedom of navigation as Britain has always done," the prime minister underscored.
