The Swedish government announced on Monday it approved its previously reported decision to extradite a Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) supporter to Turkey.

"The government on June 12th, 2023, decided to grant the extradition request regarding a 35-year-old Turkish citizen who has been sentenced to four years and seven months in prison for drug crimes in Turkey," Swedish Justice Ministry official Ashraf Ahmed told the SVT.

The question of PKK members and supporters that allegedly found shelter in Sweden has been a matter of dispute between Ankara and Stockholm in the negotiations about the latter's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
