Switzerland's annual inflation rate stood at 2.9% in March, the country's Federal Statistical Office said in a report on Monday. The figure marks a decline from the previous month's rate of 3.4%.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.2% to 106 points. The report noted that the monthly rise came as a result of rising prices for air transport, package holidays and new cars, as well as fruiting vegetables, clothing and footwear. The increase was somewhat offset by declining prices for supplementary accommodation, heating oil and berries.
The Swiss Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) climbed 2.7% in March year on year and was unchanged month on month.
