Swiss trade surplus at 15.1B Swiss francs in Q4

Switzerland's trade surplus was 15.1 billion Swiss francs in the fourth quarter of 2024, the country's Federal Customs Administration (BAZG) revealed in a report published on Thursday.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, quarter on quarter, exports surged by 7.3%, reaching 71.1 billion francs, driven by a 40.9 billion franc increase in chemical and pharmaceutical raw materials. Meanwhile, imports rose by 1.6% to 55.9 billion Swiss francs. In December, the trade surplus amounted to 4.3 billion Swiss francs, with exports at 24.3 billion Swiss francs and imports at 19.9 billion Swiss francs.

Notably, Brazil, Taiwan, and the Czech Republic became Switzerland's largest export market in December.
