Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council raised its travel warning for China, Hong Kong and Macau to "orange" on Thursday, advising against all non-essential travel. The Taiwanese government noted that China has recently adopted stricter national security legislation and pointed out that some travelers to China have been "illegally detained, detained, and interrogated."
The government warned Taiwanese citizens who must travel to China to "avoid touching on or discussing sensitive issues and affairs, photographing ports, airports, military exercise venues, and carrying books on politics, history, religion."
