Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen (pictured) warned on Tuesday that China's attempt to invade the island would be condemned by the international community and would pay a "heavy price" for this move.
Following the meeting with the delegation of Japanese lawmakers the same day, Tsai underscored that attack on Taiwan would pose a significant threat to the democratic system and the entire Indo-Pacific region, fueled up by China's ongoing military drills across the Taiwan Strait.
The tensions between Taipei and Beijing heightened after the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the island earlier this month, followed by three congressional visits to the island.
