Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff (pictured) stated on Friday that the team principals agreed the Saudi Grand Prix event should take place despite the attack on the country's Jeddah city, which hosts the race.

"We have been assured we are protected here. This is probably the safest place you can be in Saudi Arabia at the moment," he said to the press.

Yemeni Houthi rebels, earlier during the day, launched attacks on Jeddah, and the regions of Najran and Jazan. According to the maps, the circuit is some 25 kilometers away from the attacked facility.
