Trump Media surges 70% in premarket after weekend events

The shares of former United States President Donald Trump's Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG) soared 70% in the premarket on Monday in the aftermath of events that took place over the weekend.

During a rally in Pennsylvania, shots were fired at the former head of state, with the Secret Service eliminating the perpetrator on the spot. Although Trump sustained an injury to his ear, he was not seriously wounded. Recalling the incident, the ex-president said that it felt "surreal."

The firm's stock skyrocketed 70% at 4:06 am ET, selling at $53 apiece.
