Former United States President Donald Trump recalled his near-death experience, recounting the moment the shooting at a Pennsylvania campaign rally left him with a minor ear injury. "I'm not supposed to be here. I was supposed to be dead," Trump told The New York Post.

The former president applauded the Secret Service agents for neutralizing the shooter and their quick reaction in the running to the stage after hearing shots fired at the event. "They took him out with one shot right between the eyes," Trump stated. "They did a fantastic job." Reflecting on the incident, he added, "It's surreal for all of us."

The shooter was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
