United States President-elect Donald Trump requested the Supreme Court to delay the implementation of a law that could ban TikTok in the US if the app's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, does not sell the platform.
Trump's legal filing emphasized the need for time to pursue a political resolution, stating, "President Trump takes no position on the merits of this dispute."
The law, which will take effect on January 19, comes one day before Trump's inauguration, while arguments in the case are scheduled for January 10. Previously, Trump joked about keeping TikTok around, acknowledging that it bolstered his popularity among young voters.
