Trump orders closure of Federal Executive Institute

EPA-EFE/AL DRAGO

United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order to eliminate the Federal Executive Institute, a center for training government bureaucrats founded in 1968.

Trump stated the institute's elimination was a part of his efforts to remove "executive departments and agencies and programs that do not directly benefit the American people or further our Nation’s interests." The president underscored that the institute helped "entrench" the "managerial class" in Washington DC.

According to the text of the order, the institute's closure will help the government "refocus" on US taxpayers, rather than "serving the federal bureaucracy."
