United States President Donald Trump withdrew on Thursday the nomination of Elise Stefanik for the next US ambassador to the United Nations.
"There are others that can do a good job at the United Nations. Therefore, Elise will stay in Congress, rejoin the House Leadership Team, and continue to fight for our amazing American People," Trump wrote on TruthSocial. The president argued it is "essential" to "maintain EVERY Republican seat in Congress" and remain united.
"With a very tight Majority, I don’t want to take a chance on anyone else running for Elise’s seat," Trump explained, adding he would look forward to Stefanik becoming a part of his administration "in the future."
