Former United States President Donald Trump in a Fox News interview claimed that the investigation into Russian alleged interference in the 2016 US elections negatively affected US-Russia relations.

According to Trump, the investigation was baseless, and it got in the way of what could have been a mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries.

In the 2016 Trump-Russia collusion probe US intelligence agencies alleged that Moscow meddled in the presidential election to benefit Trump. The accusations were backed by numerous contacts between Trump campaign officials and Russian individuals.
