United States President Donald Trump told reporters at the Oval Office that it depends on China how soon tariffs on Chinese goods can come down.
He explained that the exact tariff rates will be determined "over the next two, three weeks" although he did not explicitly confirm it would also include setting the levy rate for China.
"We're dealing with a lot of countries right now ... right now it's 145% [for China], that's very high, it got there because of fentanyl," the president stated. "I get along very well with [Chinese] President Xi [Jinping] and I hope we can make a deal, otherwise we'll set a price. Hopefully they'll come here and contribute and if they don't that's okay," Trump concluded.
