United States President Donald Trump said he met with House Speaker Mike Johnson and conservative lawmakers to push for "major" spending cuts. In a message on Truth Social, Trump said his goal is to reduce spending by more than $1 trillion and that the proposed reductions would be part of what he called "the one, big, beautiful bill."

Trump urged lawmakers to approve it quickly, adding that both House members and senators seem to support the effort and that he expects them to "be pushing very hard" to pass it.
