United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order creating the "DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force," which will "ensure effective federal participation" in enforcing immigration law, according to the White House.
The task force includes representatives from several US agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Transportation, Homeland Security, the Marshal Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The order states that it aims to make DC "safe, beautiful, and prosperous by preventing crime, punishing criminals, preserving order, protecting our revered American monuments, and promoting beautification and the preservation of our history and heritage."
Additionally, it directs US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to remove all homeless encampments located on federal land.
