Trump slams prisoner swap, 'embarrassment'

Former United States President Donald Trump slammed the prisoner swap between the US and other Western nations, stressing that Washington negotiators "are always an embarrassment" as allegedly they are not able to secure decent deals in these cases which according to him should not include a monetary reward.

Using its Truth Social, Trump questioned the full details of the agreement that allowed WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, former US Marine Paul Whelan, Russian-American journalist Alsu Kurmasheva, and Russian opposition politician and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza, among others to regain freedom.

"Are we also paying them cash? Are they giving us cash (Please withdraw that question, because I'm sure the answer is NO)? Are we releasing murderers, killers, or thugs? Just curious because we never make good deals, at anything, but especially hostage swaps [...] I got back many hostages, and gave the opposing Country NOTHING – and never any cash," he wrote.
