Trump threatens countries over voting on Jerusalem

United States President Donald Trump vowed on Wednesday to cut aid to countries that vote against the US position on Jerusalem in the United Nations. Leading into the UN General Assembly (UNGA) emergency session called for by Palestine after the US vetoed a Security Council resolution that condemns the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital by Washington, Trump made the threatening remarks, implying the US would respond to the way countries vote. "This isn’t like it used to be where they could vote against you and then you pay them hundreds of millions of dollars," he stated.

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has made similar remarks amid the UN Security Council vote on Monday where the US stood alone vetoing the same resolution. Haley then said the US will be “taking names” of countries voting against Washington's wishes. Referring to the upcoming UNGA vote, Haley said Trump would "take this vote personally."
