The United States vetoed on Monday a United Nations Security Council resolution rejecting alterations of Jerusalem’s status. In an expected move, the US was the only country to vote against the proposal, media outlets reported. The resolution did not mention President Trump by name but instead expressed “deep regret at recent decisions” concerning the city.
Earlier this month, the US commander-in-chief recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced plans to move the embassy from Tel Aviv. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson later stated that the move will likely take two years.
