United States President Donald Trump stated that he believed that "Russia is ready" for a ceasefire and expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could reach an agreement.

In response to a question about whether he would meet with Zelensky during Pope Francis's funeral, Trump noted that he was unsure "if he is going to the funeral or not. "I hope he gets this thing signed off," he added. Furthermore, the president remarked that if he could resolve the Ukraine crisis, "because of a certain ability, that would be great," adding that he believed his administration had "a deal with Russia." "We have to get a deal with Zelensky," Trump said.
