The shares of several United States semiconductor makers rose on Monday after outgoing President Joe Biden's administration announced an investigation into foundational semiconductors used in the country and produced in China to protect the nation's manufacturing sector from Beijing's alleged unfair trade practices.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s shares jumped by 5.36% at 11:10 am ET. Simultaneously, Global Foundries Inc.'s soared by 4.58%. Broadcom Inc. surged by 3.86%. Microchip Technology Inc. increased by 2.63%. A minute later, Intel Corporation rose by 2.54%, Nvidia Corporation by 1.97%, and Qualcomm Inc. by 1.79%.
Their parent index Nasdaq 100 went up by 0.39% at 11:26 am ET.
