Tusk against Russia's return to G7

European Council President Donald Tusk said on Saturday that Russia should not return to G7 "under no condition," thus rejecting calls from United States President Donald Trump to have the world's largest country return to the group and make it G8 again.

Tusk claimed Moscow has not done anything to return to the G7 and added he would rather support inviting Ukraine as a guest instead.

Last week, Trump said it would be "appropriate" to have Russia back in the G7 and accused his predecessor Barack Obama of removing it from the group because he got "outsmarted" by Vladimir Putin. Russia was expelled from the G8 in 2014 by remaining members after its alleged illegal annexation of Crimea.
