Twitter Inc. in a filing in Delaware Chancery Court accused Elon Musk of mischaracterizing the $44 billion merger and making up claims in an effort to "escape" an agreement he no longer found "attractive."

The filing comes as a response to Musk arguing he has every right to back out of the deal because of the alleged inaccuracies in data provided by the company, which Twitter denied.

Last week, the world's richest man confidentially filed a countersuit against Twitter after the company sought to force him to close the acquisition at the agreed $54.20 per share.
