United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lammy insisted on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin must not be given the possibility to veto peacekeepers in Ukraine under any peace deal.
"Putin should simply accept an unconditional ceasefire. That is the plan on the table, let's get on with it, what are we waiting for," Lammy said at a business conference in London. "What we certainly can't do is give Putin a veto over the security architecture that will govern that peace," he added.
The Russian president has repeatedly claimed that he would not accept NATO or Western peacekeeping troops being deployed in Ukraine under any peace agreement.
