British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps rejected on Monday the comments that back Houthi military actions in the Red Sea as a way of supporting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as Yemen's militia "are opportunistic pirates" who "are using the situation to their benefit."

Giving an update on the weekend joint attacks on 36 Houthi targets in 13 locations in Yemen, Shapps said to the House of Commons that he did not have information on "any civilian casualty" being reported. In addition, the secretary stressed that the United Kingdom "will not hesitate to respond" if Houthis remain carrying on these "illegal and unacceptable attacks."

The recent strikes provoked Houthis to threaten with more retaliation.
