The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) announced on Thursday that it unfroze the assets of 12 state agencies, including the Syrian defense and interior ministries and various intelligence services.
Britain previously expressed readiness to try to revive its diplomatic relations with the Middle Eastern country after the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) overturned Bashar al-Assad's regime. It also said it might reconsider the status of HTS, currently designated as a terrorist organization in the UK.
Recently, the UK donated up to £160 million in humanitarian aid for Syria's recovery from the civil war.
