In November there were 65,139 loan approvals for house purchases in the United Kingdom or 2,252 more than one month before, against 66,562 on average in the past six months. The previous mortgages figure was revised slightly higher, the Bank of England said on Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted amount of outstanding consumer credit increased by £0.7 billion to £205.8 billion, slightly less than in October. The figure compares to the six-month average of £1.5 billion. The annual growth rate dropped 0.4 percentage points, to 9.1%, after 0.1 points more were subtracted from the previous reading. Lending to individuals climbed by £4.9 billion in November, following a rise by also £4.7 billion from the previous month – £500 million less on a rounded basis than initially reported.
Adjusted aggregate broad money gauge M4 rose only 0.1% on the month or £2.8 billion, after going 0.6% higher in October. The annual increase slowed to 3.7% from 4.1%.
