UK retailer Tesco hikes store worker wages by 7%

British retailer Tesco plc announced on Monday that it will increase wages for its store workers from April by 7%, pushing the rate to £11.02 an hour.

One of the largest retailers worldwide noted that it will dedicate over £230 million to cover for the costs of the latest decision.

Tesco employs about 320,000 in-store and office workers across the United Kingdom, according to the company's official data from 2021. The information about how many jobs will be affected by the pay raise wasn't revealed.
