The United Kingdom said it plans to supply 650 Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) systems worth £162 million to Ukraine to strengthen the war-torn country's air defenses in the ongoing conflict against Russia.
Downing Street stated the new air defense package will be officially announced by Defence Secretary John Healey who will attend the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting at the United States Air Force Base in Ramstein, Germany on Friday. Healey, who met with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov in London earlier this week, promised that £300 million worth of artillery shells would be delivered to Ukraine by the end of this year.
"With our international partners today, we will show that we are united for Ukraine. And we will discuss how best we can work together to improve support. Because the security of the UK and Europe starts in Ukraine," Healey said.
