Members of UNESCO voted on Friday in favor of the United States returning to the United Nations education, arts, sciences and culture. agency.
During today's vote, 132 supported the US' return, while 10 voted against it and 15 abstained. The member states also approved Washington's request to repay its $619 million debt to the agency over the next few years.
The US left UNESCO in 2018, when then-President Donald Trump pulled it out over the agency's alleged anti-Israel bias. Earlier this month, Washington, under President Joe Biden, asked to rejoin UNESCO.
