Attorneys general of 21 American states, along with Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, dismissed the $18 billion proposal by McKesson Corp., AmerisourceBergen Corp. and Cardinal Health Inc. to settle the legal process over their alleged involvement in the opioid crisis, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing the letter the AGs sent to the pharmaceutical wholesale companies.
Another source related to the matter told the newspaper that the states want a payment of $22 billion-$32 billion from the three drug distributors to reach a settlement in the legal case. The payment of $18 billion was reportedly meant to be spread over 18 years.
In October 2019, the three companies reached a $215 million settlement with two counties in the state of Ohio.
