The United States told Israel it is concerned the recently announced ceasefire between the latter country and Hezbollah will fall apart amid the newest exchanges of fire, Axios reported on Monday.
"The Israelis have been playing a dangerous game in recent days," a US source told the publication after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised retaliation for Hezbollah's reported violations of the truce.
Meanwhile, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby insisted that "largely speaking, the ceasefire is holding" as "there has been dramatic reduction in the violence. The monitoring mechanism is in full force and is working."
