United States President Joe Biden's administration is pressuring Israel to specify its strategy following the alleged "overthrow" of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Times of Israel said on Monday, citing different sources.
An unnamed US official told the newspaper that without a strategy on who will control the Gaza Strip, "the IDF is more likely to get bogged down in Gaza indefinitely, despite Israel insisting that it does not want to retake the enclave."
The US official explained that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team have made it clear that the country has not yet developed such a strategy and is more focused on the immediate goal of removing Hamas from power in Gaza.
