US approves potential sale of lightweight torpedoes to Saudi Arabia

The United States State Department announced on Friday that it approved the potential sale of 20 lightweight torpedoes to Saudi Arabia for an estimated cost of $78.5 million.

The principal contractor for the deal would be RTX Integrated Defense Systems. "The proposed sale will improve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s capability to deter current and future threats by upgrading its anti-submarine warfare capabilities," the Pentagon said in the statement.
