The United States Attorney's office is investigating a claim by the British pharmaceutical company GSK about the "delayed" announcement of the success of Pfizer's Covid vaccine in 2020, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Pfizer's former employee, Phil Dormitzer, who later became a senior scientist at Pfizer's rival company, GSK, told his colleagues at GSK that Pfizer delayed the announcement of the success of its vaccine until after the US presidential election in 2020. The US Attorney's office reportedly interviewed at least two people regarding the allegation, including one GSK executive.
Dormitzer has since left GSK and reportedly refuted the claims by his former GSK colleagues. "My Pfizer colleagues and I did everything we could to get the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization at the very first possible moment," Dormitzer said, according to the report, calling any other interpretation of his comments "incorrect."
