US business inventories up by 0.1% in October

Inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States increased by 0.1% in October compared to last month's reading, standing at $2.58 trillion, the US Census Bureau revealed on Tuesday. The figure rose by 2.4% on an annual basis.

In the reported month, the combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers' shipments was virtually unchanged to land at $1.8 trillion while it experienced a yearly rise of 1.7%.

The ratio between business inventories and sales at the end of October was 1.37, compared to 1.36 registered in the same month a year earlier.
