Privately‐owned housing starts in the United States decreased by 0.5% in November compared to the previous month and by 16.4% from the November 2021 figure, according to a report by the Census Bureau on Tuesday. Housing starts amounted to 1,427,000, with single-family homes at 828,000 and units in buildings with five units or more at 584,000.
Building permits came to 1,342,000 in November, dropping 11.2% on a monthly basis and 22.4% annually. There were 1,490,000 privately‐owned housing completions in November, which is 10.8% lower than in October and 6% less than in November 2021.
