US chip toolmakers allegedly cutting China supply

Several United States companies producing equipment for semiconductor manufacturing told their suppliers to stop importing certain components for their products from China to continue their collaboration, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Monday.

According to the outlet's sources, the companies also demanded that the suppliers not have Chinese investors or shareholders.

Applied Materials Inc. and Lam Research Corporation are among those who presented their partners with such a request, reportedly in support of the US government's effort to reduce China's influence in the chip industry.
