US citizen gets life sentence in China for espionage

China's Intermediate People's Court of Suzhou City charged on Monday a United States citizen, who holds permanent residency in Hong Kong, with espionage and sentenced him to life in prison.

The 78-year-old individual, named John Shing-Wan Leung, was also deprived of his political rights for life, with 500,000 Chinese yuan worth of his personal property confiscated, it was written in the court's statement.
