US closes 430 pts higher amid new records, Trump's Treasury pick

US stocks closed higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing to a new record. The small-cap Russell 2000 surged nearly 2%, setting an all-time high.

The market moves come as investors react positively to President-elect Donald Trump's selection of hedge fund manager Scott Bessent for Treasury Secretary.

The Dow Jones gained 0.99% at 4:00 pm ET or 439 points, with Sherwin-Williams growing 2.82%. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.14%, and the S&P 500 rose 0.33%, as Super Micro Computer advanced by 15.90% in both indexes.

The euro was up by 0.75% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET, selling for $1.04925.
