US closes mostly higher after choppy session

Major stock indexes in the United States closed the Thursday session mostly with gains, boosted by the tech sector. The US markets struggled for direction as investors weighed the latest Federal Reserve comments alongside economic prints. Fed Chair Jerome Powell reaffirmed that the bank will likely hike its interest rate two more times before the end of 2023.

The Dow Jones was flat at the close. Concurrently, the Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.18% and the S&P 500 added 0.37%. Palo Alto Networks was the best performer on both indexes, pulling them up by 4.28%.

The euro traded 0.26% below the dollar at 3:59 pm ET, selling for 1.09578.
