US closes mostly lower after FOMC's minutes

Major stock market indexes in the United States closed lower on Wednesday following the publication of the minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) latest meeting. The documents revealed that certain members of the committee advocated raising interest rates by 50 basis points (bps) instead of 25. The body also estimated the growth of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) will slow further in 2023.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.25% at the close as Intel Corp fell by 2.26%. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.15%, with Keysight Technologies Inc. sinking by 12.71%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 stood flat.

The euro lost 0.40% to the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.06035.
