US closes mostly lower with CPI data around the corner

Major stock market indexes in the United States closed mostly lower on Monday with investors focusing on the update on inflation in the country scheduled for the next day. Additionally, Oracle Corporation was about to release its newest earnings results.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.12% as UnitedHealth Group Inc. rose by 2.64%. The Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.37%, with Meta Platforms Inc. plunging by 4.42%. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.11% as EQT Corporation nosedived by 7.76%.

The euro lost 0.09% to the dollar at 4:01 pm ET to sell for $1.09263.
