The United States condemned the attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) convoy in Lebanon's capital Beirut which Washington said was reportedly perpetrated by Hezbollah supporters, according to a statement from the State Department.

"This attack resulted in multiple injuries on UN peacekeepers. We commend the swift response of the Lebanese Armed Forces to prevent further violence, and the Lebanese government’s commitment to take all necessary measures to hold individuals accountable for their actions," the State Department said.

Earlier, UNIFIL said its peacekeepers were attacked at the Beirut International Airport when a vehicle belonging to the organization was also set on fire. In addition, UNIFIL's Deputy Force Commander was injured in the incident.
